JEU

Announcement

We regret to announce that Japan Economic Update will be temporarily suspended, at least until October. This is due to a lack of sponsors for this website beyond April.
JEU was launched in January 2000. Monthly access to the site initially hovered around 20,000, but it soon jumped to over 70,000. Recently, there have been some 100,000 visitors every month. These figures, we believe, are quite commendable for a small site that is renewed just once a week. Most of the hits have been from the United States, followed by Japan, Europe, Oceania, and Southeast Asia.
As a rule, JEU has carried translated summaries of one article each from Japan's three leading economic weeklies. JEU's volume of analysis and commentary about Japan's economy - beset by a mountain of problems - was admittedly quite limited, but we believe we were able to provide information that could not readily be obtained from wire services and newspapers.
We pray for an early recovery of the Japanese economy and the appearance of new JEU sponsors as quickly as possible.
